They don’t apply for new jobs or opportunities as they don’t find any motivation. But the problem is how much they are performing well or doing something outstanding, but it doesn’t change their state of mind and their beliefs.

This perpetual pursuit of flawlessness can create tension and strain among colleagues and, in some cases, may even contribute to the development of depression.

2.   The Expert

These types of individuals have an ocean of knowledge and always want to learn more and more but are not satisfied with their skills and certificates.

Even though they have plenty of knowledge and skills but they always underrate their expertise. They will refuse to take on a project unless they are sure they have all the skills regarding that project.

3.   The Natural Genius

These individuals are naturally competent as they are good at their work. When facing a difficult task, they can’t deal with it immediately; if they fail on the first try, they feel crushed.

4.   The Soloist

These types of people prefer to do work alone. They refuse to ask for help from anyone else and see it as their weakness. So they reject offers of assistance.

5.   The Superman / Superwoman

Such type of individuals actively engage in challenging work and continuously strive to work as hard as they can. They rely on external deadlines to accomplish tasks, regardless of the difficulty involved. They consistently demonstrate exceptional performance and strive for success in all aspects of their work and personal lives.

Throughout the years, numerous approaches and techniques have emerged to address imposter syndrome, including group therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), self-esteem building, and reframing. Imposter syndrome is often associated with other psychological disorders, such as stress, depression, and anxiety.

The emotions experienced by individuals suffering from imposter syndrome tend to follow a pattern. As they achieve more, they increasingly feel inadequate or undeserving of their success.

It is observed in my situation where people interact. But especially noticed in like: 

  • Work environment
  • A new or unfamiliar environment
  • A social platform in which new relationships are being formed
  • A family setting with high expectations
